Maximilian Martin
I come from a family business in the timber industry and initially studied business administration in Vienna. The Seelenwald sawmill was looking for a successor who should continue to run the business in the owners' interest – so I worked in the ongoing operation for a year to get to know it exactly, as well as to be able to establish relationships with suppliers and customers. Due to the consistent starting position and my education, it was possible to convince the bank so that I could start as the new owner and managing director of the sawmill and timber trading company at the age of 25.
The most important thing in such a company is the loyal male and female employees. I was able to take over the entire workforce and they all stayed - their loyalty and competence are essential success factors for us.
Equally important are our trusted relationships with the suppliers - forest owners bear a high risk and are constantly confronted with natural disasters. We are convinced that it is more rewarding in the long run to pay decent wood prices even when a lot of wood has to be sold quickly. We always stay on an equal footing and have the experience that we always receive the best quality delivered.
