Maximilian Martin
I come from a family business in the timber industry and initially studied business administration in Vienna. The sawmill Seelenwald was looking for a successor who should continue the business in line with the owners' intentions - so I worked in the ongoing operation for a year to get to know it exactly, as well as to be able to establish relationships with suppliers and customers. Due to the favorable starting position and my education, it was possible to convince the bank, so that I could start as the new owner and managing director of the timber sawmill and timber trading company GmbH at the age of 25.
The most important thing in such a company is the loyal male and female employees. I was able to take over the entire workforce and they all stayed – their loyalty and competence are essential factors for our success.
Equally important are our trusting relationships with the suppliers – forest owners bear a high risk and are repeatedly confronted with natural disasters. We are convinced that it is more rewarding in the long run to pay decent wood prices even when a lot of wood has to be sold quickly. We always stay on an equal footing and have the experience that we always receive the best quality delivered.
